Psychological Action Thriller ‘ASSASSIN WITHIN’ Enters Pre-Production as Part of Texas Film Push

ASSASSIN WITHIN, written by and starring Cengiz Dervis (Knightfall, The Chelsea Detective), has officially entered pre-production, with principal photography set to begin late July in Texas.

Directed by Cengiz Dervis, the film is to be shot by acclaimed cinematographer Jordan Bradley and scored by international composer Daniel Raijman, whose work spans film, television, and gaming across multiple genres.

ASSASSIN WITHIN follows a former covert government-trained assassin on a personal mission to destroy a powerful all controlling AI known only as The Agency. As he penetrates an isolated high-tech facility deep in the forest, he confronts the hidden truth behind his parents’ murder — and battles forces that blur the line between man, machine, and memory.

“This is a story about reclaiming your identity, confronting the past, and challenging systems of control,” said Cengiz Dervis, a former world kickboxing champion turned multi-award-winning actor and filmmaker. “We’re combining grounded emotion with visceral action in a setting where even the environment becomes a character.”

Blending psychological tension with stylized action and philosophical undertones, ASSASSIN WITHIN has been described as “INCEPTION” and “MR. ROBOT meets THE BOURNE IDENTITY inside the mind of a survivor.”

The film is currently casting supporting roles and will feature a hybrid international crew. It is expected to complete production in early 2026, with plans for festival submissions and global distribution.

By choosing Texas — and specifically the Houston, Montgomery region — the production joins a growing number of independent films contributing to the revitalization of the state’s film and television industry.

Awoke to the sad news that Boxing coach Gary Innes passed away!

Gary was an instrumental part of my development and pushed me and many to hard places in training that prepared us for battle.

Always a smile and a joke until it was time for work and then one of the toughest fight coaches you’ll ever work with!

I’m so very grateful for the time we shared and the footprint he’s left behind.

We walked to corner many times, he opened up those ropes and as I climbed through he’d say ‘pressure, pressure, pressure’…
